Welfare charter

Every request, acceptance and signature on Kinbred is checked against these rules. When a rule applies, you see exactly which one and how it can be resolved.

Inbreeding

  • COI below 6.25%: OK.
  • 6.25% to under 12.5%: a caution is shown to both owners.
  • 12.5% and above: paid bookings are blocked unless the ethics board approves a written exception.

Pairings that are never booked

  • Merle × merle, fold × fold and lethal white overo × lethal white overo.
  • Carrier × carrier for specified lethal recessive conditions.
  • Different species or breeds, or two animals of the same sex.

Protecting the dam

  • Minimum age 24 months (mares 3 years); normally no older than 8 without a specialist opinion.
  • One litter per 12 months, four in a lifetime, no back-to-back cycles.
  • No more than two lifetime C-sections.

Health gate

  • Dogs: brucellosis (female within 30 days, stud within 6 months), registry numbers, OFA/CHIC, clinic-logged progesterone timing.
  • Horses: Coggins within 12 months, mare culture within 30 days for live cover, stallion EVA/CEM status.
  • Nothing is scheduled until both sides pass. An expired document pauses scheduling.

What Kinbred is not

  • Kinbred does not sell puppies, kittens or foals or take a cut of animal sales.
  • Kinbred is not a registry, veterinarian, law firm, bank or escrow and gives no breeding-timing advice.
  • Badges describe what was checked and when — never a guarantee.
