Money & bookings
Does Kinbred hold my money until the animal arrives?
No. Kinbred is not escrow and never holds funds. Verification is a separate service. For bookings on Kinbred, Stripe charges each milestone when its trigger is met and pays the owner about two days later.
Why does the stud owner wait for 60%?
Not for long: the tie or insemination is documented the same day and the money is released two days later. What the stud owner no longer does is chase a balance after whelping.
What if she does not take?
No pregnancy means the return-service clause applies at her next heat, provided progesterone timing was logged. The stud owner keeps what was earned; the female’s owner gets the repeat breeding the contract promised.
When do I pay the stud fee for a horse?
Before the first shipment, as the industry already does. The station’s booking fee is charged at signature. The balance is charged when the first semen shipment is ordered or the mare arrives for live cover, and paid out to the station two days after the collection record and carrier tracking are on file. Pregnancy and a live foal are conditions of the live-foal guarantee, never charges.
Who pays the Kinbred fee?
The female’s owner: 10% of the stud fee for dogs (minimum $79, maximum $750) and 5% for horses (minimum $49, maximum $400). The first 100 Founding Sires pay 0% for life.
Is Kinbred a registry, a bank or an insurer?
None of the three. Registration is decided by AKC, UKC and the others under their own rules. Payments are processed by Stripe; nothing is held for months.
Finding a match
How far is “near”?
You choose the radius, from 10 to 250 miles, for natural matings. For AI or shipped semen pick “Anywhere”: the country is the radius.
When do I see the other owner’s address?
Results show the town and distance only. The address is shared in the chat after both owners accept, and never for a female in heat until the contract is signed.
What does “health verified” mean?
Listings with tests on file are shown first and marked “health verified” once Kinbred has seen the certificates. Upload them after listing; the listing is marked verified once checked.
What must be done before a home meeting?
Both dogs brucellosis-negative within 30 days; cats FeLV/FIV-negative within 12 months; both owners present; leashed introduction; no other intact animals loose; a written contract first.
Do I need an account to list?
Listing is free. Kennel name and city are enough; ID is verified by our payment partner only before contact details unlock and before any payout.
Can unregistered animals be booked?
Paid bookings need an AKC or UKC registration number on both dogs, or a recognised registry for horses. The free tools are open to everyone.
Verification
Can a verified owner still let me down?
Yes. Verified proves who the owner is and that the animal and papers are real on a given date. It does not guarantee the deal. Book through Kinbred so the contract and the milestones protect you, and report problems to verify@kinbred.com; a verification can be revoked.
Is my face or ID stored by Kinbred?
No. Stripe Identity processes the ID and selfie after a separate biometric consent and deletes biometric data within its own retention limits. Kinbred stores only pass or fail, the date and the name on the ID.
What if the seller refuses to verify?
The report says “not verified” with the photo results. Kinbred never labels a person a scammer; you decide what the facts mean.
How do you check AKC or AQHA papers without scraping?
The owner gives us the documents and we match the registered owner to the verified ID. For AQHA horses, the registry’s public record shows the current owner. We do not scrape registries and are not affiliated with any of them.
How long does it last?
12 months from the verification date, shown on the record. A change of owner, a new chip or a failed re-check ends it early.
